Japanese for lunch, French for dinner

Nifty little Japanese restaurant in an industrial section of the Neihu District.

Menu that I can not read yet! But my friends kindly translated for me and I ordered the uni rice dish ($430 NTD).

My friend's salmon and tuna platter ($220 NTD), with optional uni (add $120 NTD).

My beautiful bowl of uni. I think I tasted heaven.
This is definitely the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. The sashimi was extremely fresh and value was phenomenal. I will be back, many more times.

L'idiot, French restaurant on Minsheng East Road.

Pan Roasted Halibut, Persimmon, Seaweed Buerre Blanc, Lentils ($580 NTD). It tasted like halibut, nothing special.

Sirloin 16 oz, “Aligot”, Beef Jus, Celtuce, Fava Bean ($1600 NTD). Dry ass steak even at medium. Tasted like something out of outback steakhouse.

Duck Breast, Garlic Puree, Orange and Grapefruit Segments,
Citrus Glaze, Chrysanthemum ($580 NTD). This actually had some flavor, citrus and sweet at the same time.

To top it off, boring dessert. This was the worst "French" restaurant I've been to. Most dishes were bland and forgettable. I was extremely disappointed with this dining experience, I will never come back nor recommend it to anyone.

  1. I'm jealous. I am seriously drooling over that uni bowl. Hysterical review of your first "French" experience in Taipei.
